Memory Verses

The Bible is the divinely inspired text that records the Word of God for man. It should be the utmost priority for Christians to study the Scriptures and always be prepared to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope that is in you (1 Peter 3:15). Memorizing the Scriptures and being able to quote them accurately when explaining your faith is vitally important. Contained on this page is a compilation of verses that every Christian should know as well as John 3:16. While learning all of these verses will take some time, you will be amazed at how God will use you once you are equipped with the knowledge of His Word.


Creation

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

John 1:1-3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Nature of God

Psalms 135:6 Whatever the Lord pleases He does, In heaven and in earth, In the seas and in all deep places.

Isaiah 45:18 For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.

Proverbs 16:4 The Lord has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.

 

Salvation

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

1 Timothy 2:4 This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God not of works, lest anyone should boast.

James 2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?

James 2: 18-19 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!

Obedience

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
